Our Intellectual Property team provides commercial and pragmatic legal advice to clients on all aspects of IP law.
In addition, the team provides regular updates to clients and contacts through our E-Bulletin service that keeps them informed about developments in intellectual property law and best practice.
We can offer expertise in:
- IP Strategy: helping our clients decide how best to look after their existing and developing IP, whether that be through seeking registered trade mark or design right protection or protection of trade secrets via contractual means.
- IP Development: advising clients from the commencement of commercial projects to ensure that they obtain the full benefit of any intellectual property creation.
- IP Commercialisation and Exploitation: we work with clients in many different fields of technology and science to advise on their IP strategy from early-stage R&D through to licensing and defence. We often advise on the drafting and negotiation of collaboration agreements and arrangements for the spinout of IP into new commercial ventures.
- IP Asset Management: to complement our IP advisory service, we operate an in-house trade mark, and design registration service through which we are also able to assist clients in defending their IP assets.
- IP Litigation: advising clients on dealing with matters of infringement and threats to their rights, our team works closely with IP experts in the firm’s Litigation Division to assist clients on protecting their assets by way of litigation.
- IP Investment and Return: both by assisting our clients to assess IP purchase and in-licensing opportunities and, when the time is right, by advising on the sale or out-licensing of their IP to third parties. Our team has wide ranging experience of advising businesses on intellectual property issues relating to fund-raising, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and technology transfers.
