Assignation, sub-letting and break options: what you need to know
Assignation and sub-letting requests are a regular source of tension between landlords and tenants, and current market conditions have seen an increase in the prevalence of such issues. Landlords' natural inclination may be to try to preserve the status quo, whilst tenants will be looking to pass on, or divest themselves of, lease responsibilities, particularly for uneconomic units. This seminar will look at key issues in dealing with assignation and sub-letting requests, from both a landlords' and tenants' perspective. It will also look at the related topic of increasing strategic use of break options, and offer insight on market factors affecting these issues.
