Managing memory loss: Information security law 2008

Information security issues are continuing to make headlines with a number of reported incidents over the past 12 months, much to the embarrassment of government and private sector operators alike. While advances in data storage and information technology can benefit organisations, it is clear that there are data security implications and potential legal consequences if the use of technology is not properly managed. This event will look at the common data security threats; how UK regulators are responding (in light of recent cases) and the likely impact on organisations which manage information or process data on behalf of clients. Issues covered will include data protection and the new legal sanctions for data loss; outsourcing and offshoring; managing employees and contractors; protecting your organisation from misuse of stolen or leaked information and practical hints for managing risk/minimising potential legal exposure for organisations under data security regulations. The seminar will look at issues for particular sectors such as financial services and the public sector.

Audience

In-house lawyers, directors, CIOs, data protection/privacy officers, contracts managers, HR managers, commercial managers in private and public sector organisations, financial services compliance professionals and academics.
