How to manage your bottom line effectively

Close up image of a house of cards

With the credit crunch now starting to bite, as HR business partners, you will be tasked with managing employee costs. Shepherd and Wedderburn have identified the top three hot spot areas where you need to be vigilant about the bottom line of your business. Aspects that will be covered include:

Reorganisation and redundancy planning

It may have been some time since you last had to conduct consultation under a collective redundancy programme. We will bring you up to speed with the caselaw under TUPE 2006 when considering reorganisations and outsourcing and insourcing.

Equal pay

Fire fighting equal pay claims can be a real migraine. Keeping a handle on the ever-evolving legal intricacies and the practicalities of managing litigation on a macro scale are hugely challenging. Whilst perceived as a "public sector problem", commercial organisations are coming under increased pressure from such claims escalated by Government's plans to outlaw secrecy clauses on what employees earn. This seminar will offer a straightforward account of the key principles of the legislation together with tips on process throughout the journey from questionnaire to tribunal.

Agency workers

With a deal having been reached between the Government, CBI and TUC that agency workers will receive parity on pay and benefits after working with an end user for 12 weeks, this will affect the bottom line. If you engage agency workers, plan now to consider how this affects your business. We will cover the latest caselaw and look at the risk that your agency workers could be found to be your employees.

Audience

HR professionals and all staff with managerial responsibilities in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
