As Head of our Energy and Utilities Group, James has a wide range of experience across regulated utility markets. Since the late 1980s, James has advised on high profile energy matters both in the Scottish and English context and has built a substantial team able to advise on a variety of utilities issues. He has advised on the restructuring of the UK energy sector since the late 1980s including the privatisation of ScottishPower, the building of the interconnector with Northern Ireland and the roll out of the competitive markets in the UK and Ireland. James is recognised as a leading lawyer in the energy field and is qualified in English and Scots law.
