Richard has practised in Scotland, Brussels and the City of London in the fields of energy, utilities regulation, commercial and competition law. In the energy sector, he has particular experience in renewable energy and oil and gas (upstream and supply chain). He is dual qualified in Scotland and in England and Wales. He is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and spent some time on secondment to Marathon Oil. Richard sat on the UK decommissioning steering group and has presented at conferences and published on carbon capture and storage.
