Shepherd and Wedderburn strengthens corporate offering with 50th partner

  • Shepherd and Wedderburn announces arrival of 50th partner
  • Strategic addition to increase competitive strength in London

Shepherd and Wedderburn, one of the UK’s leading law firms, has reached an historic landmark, with the appointment of its 50th partner. The new arrival, Robert Lyons, is welcomed into the Corporate Finance Division of the firm and will be based in London.

This appointment will allow Shepherd and Wedderburn to increase further the expertise on offer in its London office, and enable the firm to meet client demand and to continue to service the increasing number of transactions handled by the London office.

Robert brings to the firm an impressive wide-ranging Corporate Finance background which has been built up over 17 years, through previous positions at Linklaters, Mayer Brown and Barlow Lyde & Gilbert. Robert's clients have ranged from leading multinationals to start ups. His appointment will further aid Shepherd and Wedderburn’s ability to compete on a UK-wide basis in terms of service delivery and expertise.

Paul Hally, Chief Executive of Shepherd and Wedderburn said: “We are delighted to welcome Robert to the team. He has a record of excellence within the profession and we are confident that he will help enhance the service we can offer our existing clients.

“With our strategy for the Corporate Finance market we anticipate considerable growth over the next few years and the appointment of Robert is an important element in ensuring we continue to meet client needs and new business levels.

"Our London office opened in 2001 and since then has seen considerable growth particularly in the corporate finance, property, telecoms, media and technology practice areas. Following this growth not only are we are able to provide on the ground support to our Scottish clients when they operate out of London but we are also seeing an expansion of our client base through new instructions from corporates and financial intermediaries based in London

Robert commented:
“I was attracted to the position within Shepherd and Wedderburn by the firm’s reputation for quality and excellence. I’m relishing the opportunity to play a leading role in the further development of the firm’s London office. Shepherd and Wedderburn has a track record in delivering results for its clients and I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued success.”
