SHU secures sponsorship from leading law firm

The Scottish Hockey Union announces that it has secured sponsorship of this year’s National Cup Finals from Shepherd and Wedderburn.

The top teams in Scotland will be competing for the men’s and women’s Cup and Plate trophies at the National Hockey Academy at Peffermill in Edinburgh on Saturday 15th May. Winners of the men’s National Cup and the women’s National League Cup will qualify for the 2004-05 European competition.

Colin Grahamslaw, General Manager of the Scottish Hockey Union explains: “Now in its 41st year the Cup finals is the highlight of the hockey calendar. Shepherd and Wedderburn’s support allows us to provide our members and supporters with a great day out that can be enjoyed by all the family. It also allows us to continue with our efforts to develop hockey at the grassroots level as we will be offering a kids coaching clinic as part of the activities taking place on the day.”

As title sponsors of the National Cup Finals Shepherd and Wedderburn extend its sponsorship of hockey building on the support they provided to the SHU last year. Neil Harrison, Marketing Manager at Shepherd and Wedderburn commented: "We are extremely pleased to be supporting Scottish Hockey with cup finals day. We have been working with them on various projects over the last couple of years and the package we have agreed makes a contribution to a number of our marketing objectives. The combination of the competition and the Olympians event will ensure this is a unique day."

The SHU is hosting an Olympian lunch at Peffermill to celebrate Scotland’s former Olympic hockey players and coincide with the Finals. Craig Reedie, President of the British Olympic Association and a member of the International Olympic Committee, will be speaking at the lunch which will be attended by many of Scotland’s greatest hockey players.
