Scottish law firm scoops European industry awards

Shepherd and Wedderburn silver and bronze at Practice Management Awards.

Scottish law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has been recognised for its track record of excellence at the MPF 2004 European Practice Management Awards, organised by the Managing Partners’ Forum (MPF).

Shepherd and Wedderburn picked up the silver award for Best Marketing Campaign and bronze award for Best Brand in Practice at the glittering award ceremony held in The Gibson Hall in London earlier this month.

The MPF European Practice Management Awards are the only official industry recognition of the contribution of marketing, HR, technology, finance, knowledge and facilities to the management of professional firms with a European presence.

The awards are another major honour, following a year of excellent results for the firm. In April this year, the firm’s marketing excellence was acknowledged when marketing director, David Wallace, won the prestigious ‘Marketing Director of the Year’ award at the UK Legal Marketing Awards 2004.

The MPF judges commented that Shepherd and Wedderburn's entry for Best Marketing Campaign, a cause-related project with Capability Scotland to raise awareness of Disability Discrimination legislation, had true value beyond the commercial benefits to itself as a law firm, and that its entry for Best Brand in Practice had clearly demonstrated that it is a ‘best brand in practice’, having implemented a cohesive and strategically astute campaign to create a strong and distinctive brand.

Patrick Andrews, Chief Executive of Shepherd and Wedderburn said:

"It is extremely pleasing that Shepherd and Wedderburn has been recognised, alongside the biggest names in professional services, at a European level where competition is even greater than in the domestic market. The firm has clients from throughout the UK, Europe and the United States, so it is important that our marketing and brand recognition function just as well outside the UK. This is another excellent result for Shepherd and Wedderburn."

Notes to editors:

The MPF 2004 European Practice Management Awards, organised by the Managing Partners’ Forum, are the only awards to recognise the contribution of marketing, HR, technology, finance, knowledge and facilities to the management of professional firms with a European presence.

The Managing Partners’ Forum, formed in 1995, seeks to enhance the effectiveness of management and leadership in the professions through organising public campaigns, sharing knowledge and best practice, and increasing the status of the management team. The Forum has over 150 members from law, accountancy, property and consultancy firms.
