Stephen Trombala wins UK Assistant of the Year

Shepherd and Wedderburn Corporate Finance Associate, Stephen Trombala, has won the highly prized UK ‘Assistant of the Year’ award in the prestigious Legal Week Awards 2004. The awards ceremony took place last night (1st December) at Old Billingsgate Market in London.

Stephen was nominated by Andrew McLean, Corporate Counsel with Galashiels-based pharmaceuticals client ProStrakan (formerly named Strakan) for his exceptional work on Strakan's £180 million merger with French pharmaceuticals company Proskelia earlier this year.

Since joining the firm Stephen has played a key role in a number of high profile deals, including the £26 million flotation of Microemissive Displays earlier this week, the £30.6 million sale of Fishers Holdings as part of an MBO backed by Close Brothers Private Equity, the Wolfson Microelectronics £78.9 million global offering and the £210 million flotation of Russian gold mining company Highland Gold Mining.

Patrick Andrews, Chief Executive of Shepherd and Wedderburn, said: "I’d like to offer my congratulations to Stephen. He faced stiff competition from counterparts at some of the UK's biggest law firms, so to win is a remarkable achievement and an acknowledgement of Stephen's consistently high quality work. I'd also like to thank Andrew McLean for nominating Stephen, whose success reflects the strong partnerships which we seek to build with our clients."
