Shepherd and Wedderburn promotes four to partner
Law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has strengthened its position across several key sectors with the appointment of four new partners.
Stephen Trombala, Iain Drummond, David Holmes and Edwin Mustard all received promotions after displaying a sustained level of excellence in their chosen areas of practice.
Shepherd and Wedderburn chief executive, Patrick Andrews, said:
"Shepherd and Wedderburn has a proud history of nurturing, challenging and rewarding individuals who demonstrate their commitment to the firm and these four promotions are a continuation of this policy.
"Stephen, Iain, David and Edwin have all contributed towards the growth of the firm in recent years and thoroughly deserve this recognition. Shepherd and Wedderburn has benefited from their knowledge, skills and enthusiasm already and I look forward to seeing all four of them develop as partners."
Stephen Trombala, who won the highly prized UK ‘Assistant of the Year’ award in the Legal Week Awards 2004, has been appointed partner in the corporate finance team and will be working predominantly from the firm's expanding London office. Stephen’s recent work on the £180 million merger between ProStrakan and French pharmaceuticals company Proskelia and the recent flotation of Microemissive Displays are just two of the deals in which Stephen has demonstrated his partnership credentials.
Solicitor Advocate, Iain Drummond, who specialises in disputes arising in construction, engineering and PPP projects, has been promoted within the litigation division. Iain’s recent work has included acting for a civil contractor in a £1.5 million Court of Session commercial action. He has also acted for a major UK contractor in a number of adjudications and a judicial review action relating to a PFI project. Iain's major clients include Sir Robert McAlpine Limited, Byzak Limited and SLC Turnberry.
New litigation partner David Holmes specialises in medico-legal and professional disciplinary work. Working as part of a team that is consistently ranked number one in its field by the main legal directories, David has been involved in many high profile cases and inquiries on behalf of the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland and the Medical Protection Society. He is the lead solicitor in Scotland to the Health and Safety Executive.
Edwin Mustard, who began his career at Shepherd and Wedderburn as a trainee in 1993, has been promoted to partner within the Pensions, Tax and Trusts division. Edwin has extensive experience in pensions law and has been advising a range of employers, pension scheme trustees and insurance companies on a wide variety of areas for a number of years. Recently he has led project teams establishing two new final salary pension schemes, acted in a number of recent pension scheme mergers and advised insurance company clients on the establishment of new products. He has also been advising investors on the implications for corporate mergers of the new moral hazard changes in pensions law.
