Scottish law firm on marketing 'Oscars' shortlist
While Hollywood is gearing up for this weekend's Academy Awards, the marketing team at leading law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn is also celebrating its own nominations - as the only Scottish firm to be shortlisted for the 2006 Legal Marketing 'Oscars'.
The winners of the Legal Marketing Awards, for which Shepherd and Wedderburn is a strong contender in two major categories, will be announced in April 2006.
Shortlisted: Marketing Team of the Year
The 8-strong department has been shortlisted for Marketing Team of the Year. With a comparatively small but skilled team, the marketing department has consistently ensured that marketing is an integral function of the firm, and has celebrated many successes across a wide range of marketing activities, including an innovative direct mail campaign, new internal communications strategy and brand development which has seen Shepherd and Wedderburn consistently improve its brand perception in the marketplace.
Shortlisted: Single Best Initiative
'don't stand still' is a truly innovative direct marketing campaign run by Shepherd and Wedderburn in 2005/6, which achieved an astounding 58% click through rate to the firm's website. It has made a real impact on the firm and the market in terms of the creativity of marketing and business development activity, strategic approach and added value that can be created by marketing of professional services firms. The campaign proved that professionals can be creative, and that serious messages can be communicated with humour. TBWA created the six-part interactive campaign for Shepherd and Wedderburn.
In post-campaign feedback, one client said that the campaign "showed that solicitors are not 'stuffy' and have a sense of humour', while others commented on the interest and relevance of the legal information that it communicated.
Patrick Andrews, Chief Executive of Shepherd and Wedderburn commented:
"The marketing team has taken a fresh, perceptive and brave approach to marketing the firm and they deserve to win these awards. The team's achievements over the last year have had a real impact on the growth of the firm, and they are clearly punching above their weight within the UK legal market. Clients and staff alike have had a lot of positive things to say about our direct mail campaign, so we all wish the team the best of luck at the awards in April."
The Legal Marketing Awards is run by Legalease Publishers to recognise and celebrate excellence in the provision and implementation of strategic marketing solutions for the benefit of legal practice. The Awards will recognise the best marketing, public relations and business development initiatives within law firms.
