Eco-friendly success for Shepherd and Wedderburn
Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has been appointed to provide legal services by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) following a competitive tender process. The firm will advise on employment and commercial conveyancing and provide general legal services to Scotland's environmental regulator and adviser.
The legal brief will see Shepherd and Wedderburn working closely with SEPA as they undertake their responsibilities in Scotland. These include the implementation of environmental regulations in Scotland and controlling the risk of major accidents at industrial sites. SEPA has also submitted joint plans with Grampian Housing Association (GHA) for a new office and residential development in Aberdeen - a project that will have a significant impact on the regeneration of the city's harbour area. The new building, which is to achieve BREAM excellence standard, will provide SEPA and its partners with a suitable and flexible base in north east Scotland, an essential contribution to effective environmental protection services.
Shepherd and Wedderburn has a growing Environmental practice which works alongside other disciplines within the firm. Sheila Gunn, head of the Employment group at Shepherd and Wedderburn said: "Our appointment to work with SEPA is a significant win for the firm, demonstrating Shepherd and Wedderburn's expertise in the environmental sector. SEPA faces a number of challenges, not least from working within a number of different regulatory frameworks. We are pleased to be working with them."
