Advisers on £105 million PPP deal for four new schools

Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has advised West Dunbartonshire Council on a £105 million schools Public Private Partnership (PPP) project.

The deal will see the provision of three new secondary schools, one new primary school and one new Early Education & Childcare Centre in West Dunbartonshire.

Shepherd and Wedderburn’s team was led by PPP specialist Julia Kennedy with support from Kevin McKee.

Julia Kennedy said: "The deal highlights Shepherd and Wedderburn's expertise in this field and the project will deliver a huge boost to the educational facilities in the West Dunbartonshire area."

BAM PPP will be responsible for delivering the project, which is being funded by European banking group Dexia.   The schools will be designed and built by HBG Construction Limited and serviced by HBG (Facilities Management) Limited.

This deal adds to the firm's strong reputation in the PPP education field, bringing the number of education PPP projects that the firm has completed in the past 12 months up to six, with a total capital value of £599 million.
