The firm announces move as it eyes further expansion
- ‘Big Four’ megadeal rounds off 2007 with a bang
- Largest Edinburgh letting in four years
A raft of new hires at all levels of the business, including nine new partners in 2007 alone, has meant that the firm has decided to upscale to the 58,000 sq ft office at Exchange Crescent to accommodate its 400 Edinburgh staff. This follows the move of its London office to St Paul’s Churchyard earlier this year, more than doubling its space in the City.
With financial growth of 13% in the year to April 2007, and strong signals for a similar increase this financial year, the firm’s new offices will allow it to continue its expansion strategy, which has seen it achieve a higher compound annual growth rate than its three ‘Big Four’ competitors over the last few years.
Patrick Andrews, chief executive of Shepherd and Wedderburn, comments: "This move to larger premises in Edinburgh reflects the success and achievements of our business over the last few years, and the tremendous support that we have had from our clients. Exchange Crescent represents the ideal location for the firm, allowing us to remain in the city centre, with excellent transport links and local amenities. We look forward to welcoming clients to our new space."
Ben Reed, director of Jones Lang LaSalle Edinburgh, which acted for landlords Standard Life, said: "This is the largest letting in Edinburgh city centre in four years. Shepherd and Wedderburn has taken the opportunity to re-locate to Exchange Crescent in the face of a growing shortage of Grade A office accommodation in Edinburgh over the next 18 months. There is still space remaining at Exchange Crescent, but there is currently strong interest from a number of companies attracted by the building which offers a high-profile location in the heart of Edinburgh's financial district."
