Property teams come up trumps at the Buccleuch Challenge
Teams from property consultants Ryden and law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn finished in first and second place respectively at last Friday's Buccleuch Property challenge.
The challenge, in aid of Disability Snowsport UK and held at the Queensberry Estate in Dumfriesshire, encourages teams of property professionals from throughout the UK to compete against each other over an eight hour adventure course. The race is designed to test both mental and physical strength, with a clear emphasis on teamwork. Teams are encouraged to plan their tactics for the day including managing equipment and food intake throughout the race, as well as playing to the strengths of individual team members in advance.
The Shepherd and Wedderburn team of Dave Mitchell, Fraser Mitchell, Alison MacLeod and Michael Henderson completed a marathon of adventure activities including mountain biking, orienteering, river crossing and kayaking to finish as the first placed legal team and in second place overall.
Dave said: “It was a really tough challenge but we're a competitive bunch so it was great for us to come out as the leading law firm. It was a very rewarding and worthwhile experience.'
The Ryden team was headed by Richard Lang. He said: 'It is great to win the event for the second year running. The organisers make sure it’s truly hard work year on year, but this time around we were all surprised by a new, mandatory dip in a neck-deep, coldwater pool!'.
