Advisers on largest AIM IPO fundraising of the year

Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has advised Leaf Clean Energy Company, a Cayman Islands-based investment company, on its £200 million placing and flotation on AIM.

The transaction is the largest Initial Public Offering (IPO) fundraising on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market in the first half of 2007.

Corporate finance partner Robert Lyons led the Shepherd and Wedderburn five-strong team.

Robert said: "This was a significant transaction which demonstrates Shepherd and Wedderburn's strength in both the AIM market and the clean energy and renewables sector."

Leaf Clean Energy Company was established for the purposes of acquiring interests in, owning, operating and managing clean energy companies and projects primarily in North America.

Asset advisory services will be provided to Leaf Clean Energy Company by Energy and Climate Advisers, a management company in which EEA Fund Management Limited and Shaw Capital Inc, through wholly-owned affiliates, are shareholders and sponsors.

Cenkos Securities plc is nominated adviser and broker to Leaf Clean Energy Limited.

The deal is Shepherd and Wedderburn's second AIM IPO this month. Corporate finance partner Walter Blake led the team which advised Cenkos Securities plc on the admission to AIM and £29.3 million placing on behalf of SDI Group plc and certain selling shareholders.

Meanwhile, the corporate finance team, including partners George Boyle and Stephen Trombala, has also advised IDMoS plc on the Dundee-based life sciences company's conditional placing of ordinary shares to raise £2 million.
