Who Wants to Prove Their Planning Flair?
Leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn is undertaking a challenging campaign to highlight changes to Planning Law following the passing of the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006. The firm aims to provide an entertaining insight into some of the complexities of the new Act when it comes into force.
As an introduction to the changes, a ‘Planning Challenge’ interactive quiz game has been developed so that industry professionals can test their knowledge between 8 January and 26 January 2007. Visitors to the site (www.shepwedd.co.uk/planning) will be asked to correctly answer, in 20 seconds, five randomly selected, multiple-choice questions on the new legislation from a bank of 25. By correctly answering the five questions, visitors can enter a prize draw for the chance to win £500.
Questions include:
- The Act makes arrangements for the preparation and publication of a spatial plan for Scotland. What will this spatial plan be called?
- The Act provides for a new hierarchy of developments for the purposes of planning legislation. These will be "national developments", "major developments" and…?
- What must a planning authority do if a developer fails to comply with pre-application consultation requirements?
