Shepherd and Wedderburn shortlisted for being a 'good citizen'

Leading law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn, in partnership with the Citizens' Theatre, has been shortlisted for an Arts and Business 'Arts and Brand Identity' award for its effective use of arts sponsorship to reinforce brand identity.

Shepherd and Wedderburn teamed up with the theatre to support the 2005 'A Citizens' Audience with...' series. The series was a sell-out, featuring star speakers including George Galloway, John Sergeant and Barry Norman.

Other businesses shortlisted for the award include Bank of Scotland and Scottish Ballet; Scottish Television and Royal Scottish National Orchestra; and Standard Life and Edinburgh International Festival.

Suzanne Chaudhry, marketing manger at Shepherd and Wedderburn comments: "Securing a place on the shortlist is a great achievement for us. We are constantly seeking opportunities to position the firm as both forward thinking and open minded. Partnering up with the Citizens' Theatre has been a great success from the start, the shows were extremely popular with our clients, and we have reaffirmed our commitment to the theatre by signing up to a further two year sponsorship."

Anna Stapleton, general manager Citizens' Theatre adds: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award. The benefits of our partnership with Shepherd and Wedderburn have been outstanding. It has allowed the theatre to present a high calibre programme of speakers and bring new audiences in to the building. It is extremely gratifying to be recognised at this time when the original innovative sponsorship has extended for another two years."

2006 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Arts and Business Scottish Awards, the winners of which will be announced on 11 October 2006 at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre.
