Businesses urge Cameron to clarify economic policies
Business leaders have urged the Conservative leader David Cameron to take steps to fill the "huge void" currently in place in policies regarding, among other things, transport and energy.
Coming as companies of all sizes draw up plans for an anticipated change in government within the next couple of years, it has been reported that growing numbers are now expressing concerns over a lack of clarity of Tory policies.
Though Mr Cameron has expressed a reluctance to set out definitive plans for the future, claiming that the Labour government could take them as its own, according to the Financial Times, some business leaders are worried that this feeling of uncertainty could be damaging to the economy.
David Frost, director-general of the British Chambers of Commerce, told the newspaper: "Looking at the [Tory policies on the] issues facing business - tax and regulation, two ticks there. But on transport, there seems to be a huge void. So the question from business is 'OK, what are you going to do?
"We're looking for some real idea about what's going to happen, not just a series of Nos about planning and Nos about Heathrow."
