Shepherd and Wedderburn Hires Finance Partner from Eversheds
Leading law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn has announced the hire of Colin McKay, banking partner at Eversheds, the third new partner to be announced in as many weeks. Colin will join the Finance and Restructuring team at Shepherd and Wedderburn, working in the London and Edinburgh offices. Colin will be joining the firm in July.
Business Briefing - Land and Buildings Transaction Tax - a landmark bill
The Scotland Act 2012 gave the Scottish Parliament new powers in relation to certain specified tax matters, including setting a Scottish rate of income tax, and creating new taxes to replace landfill tax and stamp duty land tax.
On 25 June 2013, the Scottish Parliament passed the Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (Scotland) Bill, by which SDLT will be replaced in due course by a new land and buildings transaction tax (LBTT).
